      How can we find the suitable learning strategies?


    For these purposes- to find effective learning strategies out, and to make sure what kinds of strategies are useful to us, we did the survey, and analyzed the result of learning strategies. We identified 10 students who study academic courses as participants, then asked them about their learning strategies.

    We made the survey which involves three questions below:

Question 1: what are your top 3 learning strategies?
Question 2: what is the hardest point studying in VIU?
Question 3: What are the ways you use for effective?



    The top 3 learning strategies are note-taking, reviewing note and doing practice. Moreover, the results show that note-taking and note-reviewing are important to the effective learning.


    Respond to Q2, the result shows that every student has dissimilar point. However 30% participants answered that huge amount of reading is hard, other 20 participants answered that distraction, such as, cell phone, chatting, social network (Facebook). Even 30 participants think reading is hard, it is still considered as an important strategy for studying. This means that reading is the effective learning strategy, and also it will help students to understand their lectures and textbooks. Responds to Q3, the survey shows that some effective learning ways. The first way is that to choose comfortable places for their studies (e.g., where can get many materials, being quiet, not being crowded). The second way is avoiding their distraction by using break time effectively and drinking coffee for concentration. The third way is paying attention to time management, and balancing between life and study.


    The different strategies seem that bring choose to us. Especially they provide useful studying tools. In addition, to figure the ways which can be used in daily studying out makes us take advantages.

  1. A superb survey and summary. I like how you presented the answers and how you analyzed the data. Your question 3 is very good. My only criticism would be your conclusion -- the final two paragraphs seem rather rough. 9.5/10
